About me…
I’m an ex-banker with a culinary degree from George Brown, a mom of two, master of PowerPoint, aficionado of bubbly water, a preppy holdout in my hipster neighbourhood and the owner and farmer-lady-boss at Blind Pig Farm. I’ve traveled to over 40 countries and slept in Mongolian gers, ultra luxury villas and cockroach infested hostels. Family, food and travel are what I’m passionate about. That’s me in three sentences.
About Blind Pig Farm…
Blind Pig Farm is our 90-acre farm property in the rolling hills of Mono, Ontario. Formerly a cattle farm, since 2016 we have been working to transform the place into a weekend retreat for our family while still staying true to the property’s farming history. What does this mean? It means that every summer, we escape Toronto and move to our farm where I run my small market garden business growing fresh veggies that I sell to our family and friends back in the city. I also have a small menagerie of small farm animals including laying hens, meat chickens, ducks and rabbits and sometimes a couple pet lambs. The focus for my market garden is producing the tastiest and healthiest food possible in a sustainable way. I don’t use any pesticides or non-organic fertilizers, most of the work requires blood, sweat and tears as I don’t use any large machines and food is delivered within a day or two of being harvested by yours truly. The farm is really me, my mom and a friend or two who volunteer their time to help. It doesn’t get more small scale and local than this! Most importantly, ALL money generated by Blind Pig Farm is donated at the end of the season to Sick Kids Hospital to support cardiac research in honour of my son and heart warrior William – see his story here.
About my site…
On BlindPigFarm.com, you will find post about farm life but mostly recipes that I have created or researched, tried and often adapted and simplified. These are recipes that have been tested by my family and friends. I am hoping that my recipes will get others cooking real food and sitting down for family meal time which is the most important part of the day in our home. It is also how you can order your basket and other farm products in support of Sick Kids. Before ordering, please reach out via social media or email to guarantee that we can arrange for delivery or pick up that works for both of us.
